Top 10 essentials you should bring with you on your next flight as a passenger. So, usually when I travel, I have a backpack and a carry-on because I don't like to bring a lot of stuff. But of course, for long trips, I will check in a large suitcase. For this chapter, I'm just gonna share with you what I actually pack in my backpack that goes under the seat in front of me, so I always have access to these essential items.

Are you ready? Let's go.

You know, I'm gonna start off with what I think is the most important thing to bring.

Number one, paper thingspassport. It's kind of self-explanatory, you kind of need it for travel. Yeah, vaccination card — you know, it's not really that required yet, but I feel like it will be for international travel, so just bring it. Cash — I know people like to use credit cards, but I just like to bring cash in case of any emergencies.

Number two, I bring my medication. Many passengers forget and they actually put their medication in their check-in baggage, which is a big mistake. And then, when they actually need it, they're in trouble. I don't want to say this, but your luggage can get lost sometimes. So, if you're left without medication for a couple of days, you might be in trouble. So, bring it with you.

And number three, my favorite — I don't want to get COVID kit. In my kit, of course, I carry around my sanitizer, extra masks, and this is important — sanitizing wipes. You need wipes. The minute that I sit down, I take wipes and sanitize everything around me — all the trays, all the screens, all the controls. Trust me, you need to clean it. Yes, I know airlines have their own cleaners, and it's not that I don't trust them, it's just that I've seen too much happen on the plane. It wouldn't hurt to just do some extra cleaning, you know what I mean?

Number four, I bring my own amenity kit. In my amenity kit, I just bring the basic things I need. For instance, face wipes — you know, after a long flight, it just feels nice to freshen up your face a little bit. I also like to freshen up by brushing my teeth, so I bring a portable-sized toothbrush and toothpaste. I also bring some lip balm, but this kind of works on everything — if I have dry skin (the air gets really, really dry up there), then I'll put some on there. Also, if my nose gets really dry, then I just kind of shove some up there as well.

And of course, I bring my Scentbird. So, Scentbird is a monthly fragrance subscription — you can choose to get one fragrance a month or upgrade to get two or three if you want. There are over 600 brands of fragrances that you can choose from — Prada, Gucci, Versace. Here's the thing about fragrances for me: when I find a perfume that I really, really love, yeah, I don't mind buying the big bottle of course. But here's the thing — I don't use the same scent all the time. I change my scent based on my mood, or what I'm doing, or what season it is, or where I'm going. I'm sorry, but for me, I just cannot buy 100 bottles of full-size perfumes for every single occasion. That is why Scentbird is so perfect.

And if you're wondering, it's not a sample size. These are the samples that you normally get in stores that last a couple of days. This is Scentbird — it's a 30-day supply. I'm actually going on a trip this month, so I chose three fragrances this month for three different destinations. I am first going to New York for work, so I chose Rachel Zoe’s Empowered. It’s a scent that makes you feel confident for all my meetings. Yes, after New York, I'm actually going to Dubai. For that, I chose Prada La Femme — this just smells really fresh, clean, and rich. You know, you need to be rich in Dubai, so I'm going with this one. Then, after Dubai, I'm actually going to the Maldives to have some lovey-dovey time with my husband. For that, I chose D&G Dolce Garden — it just smells like paradise.

So, Scentbird is $16 a month, but if you want to try it out, just use my code — it will give you 30% off for the first month, so it'll just be $11. And to all my Canadian besties, Scentbird is actually expanding to Canada starting September, so you guys can get it too. And now, going back to the plane — why I actually bring this is because, well, planes stink.

Number five, I pack all of my electronics. Electronics include, of course, my phone, charger, backup battery pack, and universal travel adapter — because depending on where you go in the world, they don't have the same outlets as you. So, make sure your stuff is compatible so you can charge it. Headphones — not all headphones are compatible on the plane, so I always bring one of these sets from one of my previous flights just to make sure I can use their entertainment system, because some airlines actually don't even provide these anymore — you gotta pay for it. I don’t wanna pay for it, so I just bring it.

Number six, jewelry. You know, my luggage was lost before, so if I have to bring jewelry — usually I don’t, but if I have to — I will carry it with me because I just don’t trust it.

Number seven, my comfort pack. Travel pillow — you can do it this way or that way, whichever is most comfortable for you. I always carry extra socks just because my feet always get cold on long flights. And because I’m always cold and not every flight gives you blankets, I always carry another hoodie. Flights are super unpredictable — sometimes it’s super hot, sometimes it’s super cold. Most of the time it’s cold, but it’s better to take layers off than to not have anything and freeze for the next 10 hours.

Number eight, water bottle. Just make sure it’s empty when you’re going through security, and then after security, go to the airport water fountain and fill it up. That way you don’t have to buy $20 airport water, and if you get thirsty on the plane, you don’t have to wait for the service to start, right?

Number nine, snacks. Okay, maybe this is not an essential, but it is my essential because I can never go on a trip without my favorite snacks. I mean, if you’re okay with the pretzels and peanuts, then okay.

And number ten, something that I actually forget often but is really, really important — I highly recommend you bring one on your flight — a pen. All these countries that you travel to have different rules, so a lot of them have their own customs card or arrivals card or whatever it is, and you need to fill it out. Nobody has a pen! So if you don’t have a pen, then after arrival, you’ve got to go into the airport before customs and spend extra time filling out the form there — and who wants to do that? So just bring a pen.

And that concludes all the items that I bring onto my flight. I hope you found it helpful for your next trip. Safe travels, everyone!
