Which countries give citizenship by birth?
If a child is born in a particular country, does that child automatically get that country’s citizenship? And do the parents — the mother and father — get any benefit from it?
If we look at this, the most famous example is America (USA).
In the USA, if your child is born there, the child automatically gets citizenship by birth.
However, the issue is that the parents do not get any benefit until that child turns 18 years old and establishes their own residence there.
The same goes for Canada — the child gets citizenship, but the parents have to wait.
Most American countries, especially South American countries, have this birthright citizenship law.
That means, even if the parents are illegal residents, the child will still get citizenship, and eventually, the parents can benefit from it in some way.
In contrast, Europe and Asia don’t have this system.
In these regions, for a child to get citizenship, at least one parent must already be a citizen of that country.
But in the USA, Canada, and many South and Central American countries, the laws are more flexible and human-friendly — they prioritize humanity over nationalism.
Now it will be given information about five countries where if a child is born, the child automatically gets citizenship, and in some of them, the parents can also get citizenship — either immediately or after a short process.
In some countries, you can apply directly after your child’s birth — once the birth certificate, ID, and passport are issued, you can apply right away.
In other countries, you may need to wait a bit — first you’ll get Permanent Residency (PR), and later, citizenship.
But let's clarify something important:
Our purpose is not to encourage anyone to have a baby just to gain citizenship.
This information is especially useful for those who are already expecting a baby or have decided to start a family — whether the child will be born in Pakistan, Dubai, or anywhere else.
If the parents want their child to have future benefits, and they themselves also want to gain from it, they can plan accordingly.
Because, as you know, for people living in Pakistan, it’s very difficult to get visas for these countries.
But if a couple is already living in Turkey, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, or Europe, then there’s a good chance they can travel to one of these countries before the birth.
Now let’s start discussing the five countries.
1️⃣ Argentina
Once again, guys — Argentina is one of the best options.
Why is Argentina mentioned always ? Because its citizenship laws are extremely human-friendly, immigration-friendly, and citizenship-friendly.
Normally, if you live there for 2 years, you can apply for citizenship.
But if your child is born in Argentina, the baby immediately gets a birth certificate, ID, and passport, and then the parents can apply for citizenship right away — no need to wait for 2 years.
According to Argentinian law, the child’s right to citizenship automatically extends to the parents, meaning the parents can start the Permanent Residency (PR) and citizenship process immediately.
Usually, citizenship is granted within 8 to 10 months.

Once the parents get citizenship, other children in the family can also apply directly for citizenship or PR under family reunification laws — which are very supportive in Argentina.
2️⃣ Brazil
Next is Brazil, which is similar to Argentina in many ways.
If your child is born in Brazil, the baby automatically becomes a Brazilian citizen.
The parents get Permanent Residency (PR), not immediate citizenship.
However, after just one year of PR, they can apply for citizenship.
PR in Brazil is almost like citizenship — you get lifetime residency and nearly all rights.
In Brazil, you just need to learn basic Portuguese before applying for citizenship.
Unlike Argentina, where there’s no language requirement, Brazil requires basic communication skills in Portuguese — but nothing advanced.
3️⃣ Mexico
In Mexico, if your child is born there, you can apply for Permanent Residency right away.
After 2 years of PR, you can apply for citizenship.
So, the process is straightforward — child → PR → 2 years → citizenship.
4️⃣ Portugal
In Portugal, if your child is born there, you can also get some benefits — but only if you’re legally residing there.
You must have a valid residence permit.
If you are illegal, you won’t get any benefit from your child’s birth.
So this applies only to legal residents in Portugal.
5️⃣ Paraguay
The fifth country is Paraguay, which is also in South America.
If your child is born in Paraguay, you can apply for Permanent Residency and later citizenship — usually within 2 to 3 years.
Paraguay’s laws also favor family and blood relationships.
They believe that if your child is born there, that child is a citizen by birth, deserving of all rights — and therefore, the parents also deserve citizenship if they live and apply properly.
So once again, friends — if you are planning to have a baby and you have the opportunity or time, you can apply for visas to these countries — Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Portugal, or Paraguay.

Usually, they charge around $5,000–$6,000 per case, but they take care of everything — from airport pickup to documentation and medical arrangements.
